This systematic review included seven studies that examined interventions designed to reduce adverse drug events (ADEs) in older patients in primary care settings. Interventions included medication reviews by pharmacists, primary care physicians or research teams and educational interventions for nursing staff to better recognize potentially harmful medications. Meta-analysis did not find any significant benefits from these interventions on drug event-related hospitalizations, emergency department visits, mortality, functioning, or quality of life.
