Delayed access to care and late presentations in children during the COVID-19 pandemic: a snapshot survey of 4075 paediatricians in the UK and Ireland.
This article reports the findings from an electronic survey of pediatricians about delayed presentations to a healthcare provider among children during the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors report that 32% of emergency department pediatricians and 18% of pediatricians working in inpatient or clinic settings had witnessed delayed presentations over the previous 14-day period. The most common delayed diagnoses were diabetes and sepsis, and nine deaths were reported where the physician considered the delayed presentation to be a contributing factor.
