Characteristics and unexpected COVID-19 diagnoses in resuscitation room patients during the COVID-19 outbreak - a retrospective case series.
This case series assessed 95 critically ill patients admitted to resuscitation rooms with suspected COVID-19 at a single hospital in Germany. The authors found that diagnosing COVID-19 based primarily on clinical signs was difficult and identified several false negative results after pharyngeal swabs. They recommend use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in every resuscitation room due to unexpected cases and initial knowledge gaps.
